Ole had 13 children (including one stepdaughter), approximately 40 grandchildren, and at least 111 great-grandchildren (including me). I'll leave off there. Updates are sorely needed on my generation's children and grandchildren. I hope some of them are viewing this.
It is easy to imagine why the significant fact that Ole was born in a prison was not passed down in family lore. It is even possible that Ole may not have known it himself. Or, if he did know (more probable), he may have been ostracized or otherwise mistreated in his youth because of it. But for me, with three generations of separation, it is quite fascinating and worthy of further investigation.
